Art of Relaxation
Melt Tension Away!
Deep breathing and relaxation exercises are a great
way to reduce tension and they help you access and free the tense
areas in your body by improving the flow of healing oxygen. Practice
this exercise once a day for one week. You will see a significant drop in your stress
level.
-
Sit or lie in a relaxed position, with your eyes
closed.
-
Breathe slowly and deeply until your breath slows.
-
As you breathe, visualize your breath going to the
tense areas of your back, neck, and shoulders. See and feel how
this breath softens them.
-
Notice any unpleasant emotions or thoughts that
are "stored" in the tense muscles, like fear or anger.
-
See your breath make these stored emotions and
thoughts fade and shrink. Watch them disappear or let them be
carried out as you exhale.
-
Notice how the places where they were stored have
softened.
-
See a peaceful, nurturing energy flowing into your
body, carried by your breath. Let this deep healing energy keep
flowing until it fills you completely.
-
Continue breathing peacefully and calmly for a few
more minutes.
